Sodium bicarbonate
Sodium bicarbonate
Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO), commonly known as baking soda, tiny white crystal, has a lower solubility in water than sodium carbonate. It is an industrial chemical with low toxicity. Its solids gradually decompose into sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide and water at 50°C and above, and will completely decompose at 440°C. Sodium bicarbonate is an acid salt generated after the neutralization of strong base and weak acid, and is weakly alkaline when dissolved in water. This property makes it a bulking agent in food production. After chemical action, sodium bicarbonate will generate sodium carbonate residuals, and too much use of it will make the finished products taste alkaline.

Application:
Sodium bicarbonate can be used directly as a raw material in the pharmaceutical industry for treating hyperacidity. It can also be used in film production, tanning, mineral processing, smelting, metal heat treatment, as well as the fiber and rubber industries. It can also be used as a detergent for wool, as well as for soaking of seeds. In the food industry, it is a most widely used bulking agent for the production of biscuits, cakes, steamed breads, breads, etc., and it is also a carbon dioxide generating agent for aerated beverages; it can be compounded with alum to produce alkalic baking powders, it can also be compounded with soda to produce crystal soda for civilian use, and it can also be used as a butter preservative. It can also be used to produce soda-acid extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers. In the rubber industry, it can be used for rubber and sponge production because that it has the action of forming uniform pores when used together with Alum and H pore-forming agents. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as a fluxing agent for casting steel ingots. In the mechanical industry, it is used as a molding promoter for sand-cast steels. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a fixing agent, acid-base buffering agent, and treatment agent for fabric dyeing and finishing. Adding baking soda to the dyeing can prevent the spindle from causing dyeing defects. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a raw material for antacids.
