Soda, with a scientific name of sodium carbonate, commonly named crystal soda and washing soda, chemical formula of Na2CO3, belongs to carbonates. It is highly hygroscopic, and is extremely deliquescent when exposed in air; it is soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline.

Classification:

1. By property: industrial-grade soda and food-grade soda;

2. By bulk density: industrial-grade soda can also be divided into light soda and dense soda.

3. By chlorine (lv) content: it can be divided into ordinary alkali and low saline alkali.

In the Industrial Standard for Sodium Carbonate/GB-210.1-2004, the mass fraction of ordinary alkali and low saline alkali (mass fraction of dry-basis NaCl, %) is less than or equal to 0.70 and 0.30 respectively.

4. By production process: it can be divided into ammonia soda, combined soda, and natural soda.

General Packaging:

General packaging includes 25KG, 40KG, 50KG, 750KG and 1000KG.

Main Application:

Soda is one of the most important chemical raw materials. It is used for the production of chemicals, cleaning agents and detergents, and also used in photography and pharmaceutical production. It is widely used in pharmaceutical (treating hyperacidity), paper-making, metallurgical, glass, textile, dyeing, etc. industries, and used as a leavening agent in food industry.

1. The glass industry is the consuming sector of soda.

2. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as an auxiliary solvent for smelting, a flotation agent for beneficiation, and it can also be used for the removal of sulfur and phosphorus, beneficiation, as well as the preparation of copper, lead, nickel, tin, uranium, aluminum, etc.

3. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a water softener.

4. In the leather industry, it is used for degreasing the rawhides, neutralizing chrome tanned leather, and improving the alkalinity of chrome tanning liquor.

5. It is also used to produce synthetic detergents, additives, sodium tripolyphosphate and other sodium phosphates.

6. Food-grade soda is used to produce flour and monosodium glutamate.

7. It is also used in the preparation of refractories and glazes in the ceramic industry.

8. It can also be used to make soaps by reacting with fatty acids.
